Lost Levenshulme is a publication I’ve put together for Levenshulme Old Library, looking at the history and hidden stories of Levenshulme, a district in South Manchester.

Issue One features:

  • The Levenshulme Landgrabbers: The story of the people who reclaimed local land for community use.

  • What Happened to Frank Tilsley?: The forgotten novelist from Levenshulme who made his mark on British literature.

  • Levyhenge: A photo essay on Manchester’s only stone circle, found in Cringle Park.

  • Ghost Signs: A personal exploration of the fading, historic signs found on buildings.

  • Pipistrello: A ghost story inspired by the hidden pet cemetery in Highfield Country Park.

Featuring words by Marie Crook, Ella Sprakarn and Joanna Tilsley, among others, and photos by Laura Deane.
