Ghosts at the Old Library is ghost stories project I run at Christmas at Levenshulme Old Library.
Each year I commission a number of writers to create brand new ghost stories which are then performed in full at an immersive lantern-lit event in the Old Library building.
These stories are also published - usually as a series of individual Christmas cards - and professionally recorded by the authors and released as podcasts.
Each year Ghosts at the Old Library is used to support emerging writers in my local area, with early-stage authors receiving a bespoke one-on-one mentoring programme which focuses on their ghost story but also provides broader insight and guidance into a career in the arts.
Writers we’ve commissioned for this project have included Melissa Wan, Nicholas Royle, Adam Farrer and Gaynor Jones, among others.
