Lost Levenshulme

I’ve put together a new magazine for Levenshulme Old Library.

Lost Levenshulme looks at the hidden stories in Levenshume, a fairly unassuming district South Manchester which also happens to be my neighbourhood.

Its focus is on the forgotten history, local legends, and mysterious landmarks that have shaped Levenshulme, such as...

• The remarkable tale of the Levenshulme Landgrabbers who reclaimed local land for the community
• Frank Tilsley, a novelist and one-time household name, originally from Levenshulme
• A photo essay on Levyhenge, Levenshulme's very own stone circle
• A personal reflection on ghost signs, the faded adverts still visible on our streets
• A ghost story inspired by Highfield Country Park, home to an old pet graveyard.

Lost Levenshulme features words by Marie Crook, Joanna Tilsley and Ella Sprakarn, among others, and images by Laura Deane. Plus me trying to find out who built a full scale stone circle in my local park and why.

Initially limited to 50 copies, these sold out within a couple of hours of release, so a second print run was ordered. Copies are available online here or from Levenshulme’s very own Bopcap Books.

Oh, and there’s also a tote bag.
